About the Book
The Way of the Wind
Book Two in The Veils of Wisdom
In the realm of Akaria, energy shapes reality itself. For centuries, six elemental Seals have held the malevolent Ravenwolf trapped in an obsidian prison. But now the Seals are weakening, and with each crack, his influence spreads by twisting energy, corrupting minds, and warping the land.
Marriana never asked to be part of this fight. Thrust into a world of elemental magic, ancestral spirits, and shadowy power struggles, she must join forces with the ancient Keepers to stop the unraveling of Akaria. As she uncovers forgotten lore and feels her own power awakening, Marriana faces a growing truth: the battle for Akaria will demand everything from her. Her trust, her courage, and possibly her soul.
Before the final Seal breaks, she must decide who she will become… and what she’s willing to risk to save the realm that has become her home.
“The Way of the Wind” carries the touch of many generations of my family.
Our son, Chad, a passionate reader, helped me brainstorm what makes an interesting book cover. My nephew, Matthew J. Gambill, created the final artwork and cover design. My mother, Joanne Motschenbacher, painted a picture of a dwarf resting in the forest years before this story was written, because she knew I liked dwarves. That painting later became the inspiration for the Aatami, Elder Nhiam, a character who holds a special place in my heart. The picture adorns the back cover of the paperback and hardback versions.

Are You Wondering?
- Storm’s Philosophy: Storm writes, “Rise and soar above the bad times.”How do characters in the book embody (or struggle with) this idea? Have you ever applied this mindset in your own life?
- The Healing Arts: The book mentions “remedies to treat the body” and “Light Arts.” If you could learn one mystical skill from this world, what would it be, and how would you use it?
- Favorite Side Character: From Morin Horsegrove to Janiya, which supporting character deserves their own spin-off? Why?
- Theron’s Midnight Mission: The opening scene with the red ribbon feels tense and secretive. Would you have trusted the shadowy figure on the boat? Why or why not?
- Final Thoughts: Would you read a sequel? What unanswered questions or characters would you want to explore next?
If you enjoyed the journey…
One of the best ways you can support my books is by leaving a short review. Whether it’s a sentence or a few thoughts, your words help other readers discover the world of Akaria, and they mean the world to me. Thank you for reading and for being part of this adventure!
